RANT. Okay, I'm going there, I'm doing this, even though I don't usually post personal opinion on here but I'm so mad.
An Instagram model with over 1 million followers has recently started endorsing shampoo and conditioner by the brand Tresemme. She has stated in her posts that Tresemme 'do NOT test their products on animals and are committed to ending animal testing.'
THAT IS NOT CORRECT.
I am so MAD about this. Not because the company uses animal testing (though of course that sucks, but not what I'm debating here) but because the model is either being misled by the company, who is also purposely misleading people, or she's lying to OVER ONE MILLION impressionable, young followers. And when I posted a (polite) comment stating that Tresemme tests their ingredients on animals, SHE DELETED MY COMMENT.
I LITERALLY WANT TO BANG MY HEAD AGAINST A WALL.
My personal views on animal rights aside (though as a Veterinary Nurse I'm sure you can piece together how I feel about the mistreatment of animals), it sucks SO DAMN MUCH that an influential role model would turn a blind eye to this. To be fair, she's probably signed a contract with Tresemme that she can't back out of now, so even if she actually does some research and realises the product isn't cruelty free, there's nothing she can do anyway.
HOWEVER. Please note: Tresemme can state that the product wasn't tested on animals, because that's true. But it is the INGREDIENTS within the product that have been tested on animals. So do not be deceived by the sly marketing tactics of these massive companies! And likewise, RESEARCH a product yourself before you buy it, rather than listening to paid Instagram models. Don't get me started on those freaking gummy bear hair vitamins or the diet teas.
(ACTUALLY WAIT A MINUTE. I will. One of my favourite YouTubers Cloudyapples made a video about how she was approached by a 'skinny tea' company, asking if she would endorse their product. When she researched it, she realised that it didn't actually make you skinnier. It didn't do much other than aid bloating. She turned down the opportunity and money because SHE WANTED TO BE HONEST. Hats off to her, seriously.)
Here is a comprehensive list of all the companies who test their products and/or ingredients on animals, if you're interested: www.peta.org/…/beauty/co…

If you agree with animal testing, then fair play. You're entitled to an opinion. However, if you disagree then please share this post to spread the word. Thank you.
